A medium format monograph extensively illustrated with drawings and photographs, about the new and magnificent building designed by Paulo Mendes da Rocha in Lisbon, the new National Coach Museum, alongside the River Tagus in Belém, Lisbon.

Paulo Archias Mendes da Rocha was born in 1928 in Vitória, Espírito Santo, and graduated from the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism of Mackenzie University in São Paulo in 1954. At the invitation of Vilanova Artigas he taught at the Faculty of rchitecture and Urbanism of São Paulo University from 1959 to 1969. In 1980 he returned to teaching, attained the position of Full Professor in 1998 and became Professor Emeritus in 2010. In 1957 he was awarded the public tender for the construction of the gymnasium at Club Athletico Paulistano, which was awarded the Presidency of the Republic Grand Prize of the VI São Paulo Biennial. Among others, he designed the Official Pavilion of Brazil for Expo 70 in Osaka, Japan; he was one of the award-winning finalists in the tender for the preliminary draft of the Georges Pompidou Cultural Centre in Paris (1971); he designed the Brazilian Sculpture Museum - MUBE, in São Paulo (1987), for which he was nominated for the "I Mies van der Rohe Award for Latin American architecture", organised by the Mies van der Rohe Foundation (1999); he designed the renovation of the Pinacotheca of the State of São Paulo which won him the Mies van der Rohe Award for Latin american Architecture" in Barcelona (2000). In 2006 he received the Pritzker Architectural Prize for the body of his work. In 2007, he designed the architectural complex of Cais das Artes, consisting of a museum and a theatre in Suá Bay in Vitória, Brazil, for the Government of the State of Espírito Santo. In 2008 he was invited by the Portuguese Government to design the National Coach Museum alongside the River Tagus in Belém, Lisbon.
